How To

How to make an omelet that is perfect

Omelets are my favorite breakfast dish. But how do they turn out so perfectly? Many different recipes and methods have failed to work for me. So I am sharing some tips and tricks today to help you make fluffy, delicious omelets every morning.

We should first know that eggs are very temperamental ingredients when making omelets. You must get them fresh, organically, and keep them cold until you cook. If they are not kept cold enough, the whites won’t form properly. The yolks will also break down too quickly and become runny. This causes your omelets to look oddly colored. If you intend to cook your eggs immediately, it's best to use room-temperature egg.

Another tip is to separate the egg before adding it to the pan. The yolk and white should not be mixed together as this can cause the omelet's curdle.

If you add the egg directly onto the stovetop, you might end up burning the bottom part of the egg, which would ruin the texture of your omelet. Instead, microwave the egg for 10 seconds before adding it to the pan. The microwave heat is sufficient to cook the egg without overcooking.

Next, let us talk about how to mix the eggs. When mixing eggs, it is important to thoroughly beat them. To do this, grab the bowl of the mixer and turn it upside down. Next, shake the bowl vigorously. This way, the air inside the bowl gets whipped around and mixes the egg thoroughly.

The fun part is now - adding the milk to the mixture. Pour half the milk into the beaten egg mixture and then fold in the eggs. Don't worry if there are still streaks of egg visible; these streaks will disappear once you flip the omelet.

After folding the eggs, place the pan on medium heat and wait for the oil to start sizzling. When the oil is hot enough, add 1/4 cup butter to the pan. Stir it around until the butter covers the entire pan. Open the lid and sprinkle salt on the pan. The salt will help to prevent the omelet's sticking to the pan.

Cover the pan once the omelet is formed and allow it to cool completely. Flip the omelet by using a spatula. Cook the other half for another minute. Take out the omelet and place it in a bowl.

This recipe is best made with whole milk. However, it can also be used with skimmed milk.
